Since the Covid-19 epidemic, masks have been put in place to protect those around you and yourself. Different governments of many affected countries have demanded the obligation to wear a mask.

Mask function

The mask is made to protect the wearer against bacteria or viruses that may be inhaled by breathing. It also provides protection against transmission by saliva. For those who have caught Covid-19, it is also a tool to prevent the spread of the virus to its surroundings.

How to put on a surgical mask?

Asurgical mask has two sides: a white side on the inside and a blue or colored side on the outside and that is to say on the side of the mouth.

There are several types of maintenance of the mask on the face: either elastics fixed behind the ears, or cords to tie behind the head or elastics to put behind the neck or the head.

Is wearing a mask compulsory?

Since the appearance of vaccines, wearing a mask was no longer compulsory in certain places, whether external or internal. The Minister of Health is often the one who makes the decisions on this.

Different countries make decisions based on their health situation whether wearing a mask is mandatory or not. However, in public places, an obligation to wear a mask is required, such as in hospitals, supermarkets, at the shopping center, at school, in public transport, sports halls, places of worship or even d 'others.

How to make a mask?

If you are out of masks when you have to go out, here are two tutorials on how to make a mask:

A paper face mask:

For a paper mask you need: a paper towel or paper towel, a stapler, rubber bands and hydroalcoholic gel

Realization: disinfect your hands with the gel. Take the paper and fold it to have an accordion visual. Put a rubber band on each end of the paper and fold the end over. Finally, staple the ends to hold the rubber bands.

A fabric and reusable covid mask:

This one is a bit more complicated than the first one:

For a large size:

For the exterior: take a 20 by 20cm piece of fabric. The material of the fabric should preferably be a polyester, cotton can also be used.

For the inside: take another piece of fabric of the same size. The material must be polypropylene, cotton will also do.

Two 19 cm ribbons or rubber bands for support.

The colors of the fabrics must be distinct so as not to confuse the interior with the exterior.

- Place the fabrics against and sew the 4 corners.

- Take the iron to mark the folds. For this, you have to put a part of the fabric from the inside to the top.

- Fold halfway face to face, the outside part will be on top.

- Redo half as before.

- Unfold everything and you will get the 3 folds

- Take the rubber bands and place them inside the fold about 1 cm on the 2 ends on each side.

- Sew the rubber bands to the fabric to secure it

A protective mask for children

To make a mask for children, the steps to follow are the same as those for adults, the difference is the length of the fabrics and elastics to use:

- 2 square fabric coupons of 17 cm sides.

- 2 rubber bands, each should be 13 cm long.

Which surgical mask to choose?

There are three categories of surgical masks with different functions:

FFP2 Masks

These are respiratory protection masks. They protect those who put it on against the risk of inhaling infectious agents transmitted by air.

Disposable splash masks

These avoid the projection of saliva secretions that can carry infectious agents through the airways.

Barrier masks

Also called masks for the general public, these are masks made of fabrics or other materials, but which are washable. They are reusable and meet the health standards and protocols set by the Government. They serve as a complement to barrier gestures.

How many sanitary masks per week?

There isn't really an exact number that delimits the amount of masks to wear per week.

- If you are at home, wearing a mask is not mandatory unless you are contaminated or in quarantine, then you must wear a mask to protect those who share your home.

- If you are in a public place, you should change your mask every 4 hours at least. Use disposable masks so you don't keep them in your pocket or somewhere else, as this will increase your chance of getting the coronavirus. This figure was set by the Minister of Health.

Which mask color should I buy?

Different mask colors are available on the market, you have a wide choice so the decision is up to you, for example:

The pink mask:

It limits sputters from spreading. It also protects the surroundings of the wearer. It has a shape with folds and adapts to all types of faces.

The personalized red mask for Christmas:

These masks are designed to be in the Christmas spirit. They are still with Christmas patterns and retain their protection function against covid-19. You will see them during the Christmas markets.
