Maxguard safety shoes, work shoes: what's the difference?

With no less than 7% of work accidents involving the feet, this part of the employee's body must be protected just as much as the rest. The Maxguard brand is precisely specialized in the manufacture of these shoes, and offers a whole range of products to cover as much risk as possible.

      Risk situations:

Some workers are exposed to several risks of foot injuries in their workplace without being really aware of it. This can be mechanical risks (crushing, perforations, etc.), chemical (toxic and corrosive liquids), electrical, biological (pathogens, allergies, etc.), thermal (bad weather) or risks related to movement or radiation (UV). It is necessary to know the different risky situations to better prevent them. We have the risks incurred by professionals of:

      • Load handling
      • Electrical work
      • Kitchens and food manufacturing workshops
      • Laundromats and fisheries
      • Exterior works.

It is therefore essential for employees in these sectors of activity to wear safety safety shoes adapted to their trades in order to ensure optimal protection of their feet.

Safety shoes are among the personal protective equipment most often required for professionals. They must be manufactured according to the standards in force in order to maximize safety at work.

Safety shoes and work shoes are still very much mixed up by the general public. However, the two have a major difference: the protective shell at the front of the shoe. The presence of this shell gives the qualification of "safety" to a shoe, while its absence makes the shoe simply remain "work". The presence of this shell is motivated by the need for protection against the risk of crushing due to a falling object.

Maxguard safety shoes designed according to strict standards - S1/S1P/S2/S3

While the designs of safety shoes today are very varied and are similar to street shoes, the protection they offer has in no way diminished. To be compliant, they continue to follow the strict requirements of ISO 20345.

This basic standard is further divided into several categories to allow manufacturers to design footwear adapted to protect against risks specific to each work environment. It is therefore divided into 5 categories as follows:

      - Class S1: shoes in this category are intended for indoor use, in dry environments where hydrocarbons and mineral oils are present. They are equipped with the mandatory protective shell for safety shoes, but they also have a non-slip sole and a shock-absorbing sole for greater comfort.

      - The class S1P: shoes in this category are designed with all the criteria of the S1 standard. For even greater protection, anti-perforation soles are added.

      - The class S2: safety shoes classified S2 meet the criteria of the S1 standard. On the other hand, they are worn in wet environments and must therefore be waterproof.

      - Class S3: this is the highest protection category. S3 standard shoes have all the criteria mentioned above, including anti-perforation soles.

      - The additionalstandards (WR, SRC , HRO…): shoes in this category equip employees who work in special conditions. They are, for example, resistant to fire or heat.

The different models of Maxguard safety shoes

As the constraints and needs are different for each person and in each profession, several models of safety shoes have emerged under the Maxguard brand. Here are the ones you can find here:

      - Safety Clog: These shoes are used by those who spend a certain number of hours on their feet in their profession. The nursing staff, for example, wears a lot of them.

      - Dress Safety Shoes: Known also as business safety shoes, they look like dress shoes to wear at work or for formal events.

      - Safety Boots: the protection that they offer is wider since they can protect up to the legs (other boots go up to the thighs).

      - Low safety shoes: if they are all-purpose, they were primarily intended for construction, logistics and maintenance professionals or even those in car mechanics.

      - Safety sandals: they are generally intended for the mechanical, logistics, transport, electrical sector, etc.

      • Safety Trainer: as the name indicates these shoes adopt a sporty design. They are lighter and offer greater breathability.
