Protective shell resistant to 200 joules

A fundamental element of PPE to enable you to carry out your work in sectors of activity where all dangers are possible, safety footwear protects your toes from accidents. Hardshell shoes are designed to provide more peace of mind for the worker who performs his tasks in sometimes difficult conditions. There are several models of shoes with anti-crushing protective shells.

Protection of feet and toes against accidents and falling objects

A variety of models of safety shoes are available to you. Low shoes, safety trainers or safety boots, you must choose safety shoes for the activity you perform and according to the risks you run.

Several levels of protection can be provided by safety shoes:

  • Heat resistance,
  • Puncture protection,
  • Isolation or dissipation of electrical currents,
  • Sealing, etc.

The EN 20345 standard

EN 20345 standard, womens safety shoes or men are fitted with a protective cap. The shell is made of steel or composite and withstands a pressure force of 200 joules. The joule is, in fact, the unit of measurement of the pressure force or the energy of a body falling from a certain height. You should know that the greater the height of the fall, the higher the energy.

The EN 20345 standard defines a shoe with a protective shell resistant to 200 joules which protects you from the fall of a 20 kg object at a theoretical height of 1 m. Thus, the shelled shoe resists a force equivalent to 1500 kg, so that the worker wearing it is not injured as a result of this fall.

Safety footwear standards

The same object can have a different pressure force depending on the height of the fall and this energy is calculated in joules. The EN345 standard establishes a classification based on the protection category of safety shoes. The most sold are S1P and S3 which are characterized by:

  • Thehas protective shell resistant to a force of 200 joules,
  • Oil-resistant soles,
  • Their antistatic properties

Non-slip, these shoes also absorb energy in the heel. The S3 mention indicates that the shoe has a water-resistant upper.
