WRU standard: safety shoes -S3 protection

Many jobs require the wearing of personal protective equipment or PPE. This type of equipment is essential insofar as it guarantees the safety and comfort of workers. Do you have to work outdoors? Equip yourself now with waterproof safety shoes that comply with the WRU standard.

What is the WRU standard? ISO 20345

The WRU standard certifies the waterproof aspect of the shoe upper or safety trainers. It is part of the possible additional requirements for work shoes certified ISO EN 20345 and ISO EN 20347 . In other words, this certification guarantees that the upper of the shoe is water-repellent. The WRU certification is one of the four mandatory standards for a safety shoe to acquire the S3 classification. This means that an S3-certified shoe always has a waterproof upper that meets the requirements of the WRU standard.

To meet the WRU standard, the material used for the upper is subjected to a test during which the penetration of water into the shoe must not exceed 0.2 g. As for the absorption rate, it must be less than 30%.

In which professions should WRU standard footwear be used?

Being work or safety shoes, WRU standard shoes are mandatory for craftsmen or workers working outdoors. They are also suitable for workers who are often confronted with humidity or working in difficult conditions (mud, construction site, etc.). Wearing this type of shoe is also recommended for construction workers (masons, demolition workers, etc.), landscapers, plumbers or green space employees.

The different models of WRU-certified footwear

The WRU safety shoes are available in a wide choice of models: low or high, boots or sneakers, with or without laces. Workers also have a choice in terms of colors and shapes.

Note that it is essential to choose the right size for safety shoes. It is also important to choose the right length and width so that the shoes are well adapted to the feet. Among other things, this optimizes the comfort and safety of the worker and allows him to exercise in the best conditions.
