Cut-resistant gloves choosing the right one according to the risks
Anti-cut gloves, the perfect protection for cooking, handling, construction sites, etc.
When it comes to manual work, the risk of cutting is constantly present whatever the work environment considered. The anti-cut work glove is the handling glove that protects the hands of professionals, with high cut resistance when handling sharp objects. The reflex is obviously to wear gloves that can offer a high level of protection to avoid any risk of cuts.
How to choose anti-cut work gloves?
You must first analyze the risk incurred by your activity in order to choose the right cut-resistant work gloves. Oxwork takes advantage of the addition of several novelties in the collection of anti-cut gloves, to introduce a new color coding system. This system uses three colors to clearly identify the glove cut protection level .
The benefit of this system allows safety managers to determine if a user is using the correct cut level PPE for a particular job. They can see it from a good distance just by identifying the color of the gloves used.
This color coding system is convenient, as more and more workplaces require cut protection gloves.
These cut-resistant gloves comply with European standard EN 420 and EN 388. Depending on the colors of the gloves, the red color corresponds to level 1 for cuts which means a low level of protection, the color yellow at level 3 at the cut, it is an intermediate level which protects more than level 1 and finally the green colour which is level 5 for cuts, it is the maximum level of protection in anti-cut gloves.
Standards and cut resistance (level 5) of safety gloves
The cut-resistant gloves correspond to the EN 388 standard. The gloves have a pictogram on the back of the hand indicating this standard as well as a series of numbers for the old models and letters with the new regulations which correspond to the performance level for the following four points:
- Abrasion
- Cut
- Tear
- Perforation
For example, you can find this series of numbers on the glove: 4544, the 5 corresponds to the highest level of cut performance. With the new regulations, the number 5 is replaced by the letter F.
