The construction trade in BTP requires the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE). Especially for painters in construction sites, they ensure the finish and the aesthetics of a building or a house. Their work must expressly demonstrate precision and finesse. Whether in collective or individual housing, large or small habitat, their services are a phase not to be taken lightly in order to ensure a lasting and satisfactory rendering.

Personal protective equipment for painters (PPE BTP)

Work clothes are nowadays defined as PPE (personal protective equipment). They are designed to ensure the safety of workers exposed to possible hazards that threaten their health and safety. Currently, there is a wide range of specific work clothes for each profession. There are both modern and technical garments that give you excellent protection and comfort.

In the field of construction BTP, the tasks are divided into several parts, including masons, roofers, plumbers, electricians, drywallers, painters or construction work. All of this work requires specific professional clothing and protective equipment such as work gloves, safety helmets, goggles and protective masks. Safety shoes are also part of the work clothes of construction workers.

Paint work is one of the most demanding industries when it comes to wearing protective gear. Indeed, they are exposed to various risks that can cause serious accidents. You can easily get eye irritation from the items used. You could have disorders of the respiratory organs, since it has been found that there is the presence of chemical substances when you breathe and this is done only through the skin. By the way, work shoes are also important. In reality, the safety of the feet is also paramount because of the risks that can threaten the feet.

Mandatory protective equipment for house painters

Aside from tops, house painter work bottoms, PPE are essential and mandatory. Personal protective equipment is the set of breathing masks, protective goggles, protective gloves, safety helmets, protection and fall protection equipment specially designed for painters.

        Painter breathing masks

Respiratory masks are devices that protect the respiratory tract against the absorption of dust, gases, vapours, fumes or even pathogens. Indeed, polyurethane paints contain isocyanates which may cause allergies. The paint itself is a danger to the lungs, to the eyes and to the environment.

In general, respirators to protect themselves from painters have several layers of filtering materials. Wearing a respiratory mask is therefore essential to guarantee the safety of painting professionals. This accessory can limit the main risks that impact health.

There are also two types of masks, including the insulating mask and the filtering mask. They are used under their own specific conditions.

The filtering masks have been manufactured to improve the quality of the air that the worker breathes in his working environment. These masks have a filter to retain dust, mist, gas or other, in order to clarify the air.

Some masks are disposable or single-use models and others have washable filters so you can reuse them.

FFP1 masks are great options for protecting yourself from exposure. Indeed, these masks have better protection against fine particles and dust. FFP2 masks are second-class models, filtering facepieces and self-cleaning equipment. This accessory can filter up to 94% of droplets and particles that are suspended in the air with the leakage rate of 8% maximum, towards the outside . Disposable masks are classified in the class of FFP3. This offers the best protection conditions of the two previous classes.

        Painter protective gloves

The painting gloves are, for the most part, meeting the EN 388 standard. Basically, they are differentiated with respect to risks such as the mechanical risks of abrasion, perforation, cut and tear.

Protective gloves that cut resistant mainly offer great resistance against cutting.

Protective gloves that tear have performance that helps you avoid hand incidents. The resistance measurement of this accessory is done by index notation. It depends on the force needed to tear them.

As for abrasion resistance, painter's safety gloves have excellent wear resistance. Paint gloves that are abrasion resistant are tested to cycle abrasion until the glove is punctured.

For painters gloves puncture resistant, they can withstand a certain puncture force of a material.

        Painter protective helmets

Head protection for painting jobs presents various risks that can be fatal. Falls from heights or falling objects on construction sites are unavoidable. On construction sites, painters must wear a safety helmet that meets the NF EN 397/A1 standard. This is to protect you from the risk of head trauma caused by blows to the head. Some objects may fall from higher floors, but he may also fall or hit his head on scaffolding.

        Painter safety shoes

The safety shoes for the painting trade are available in a high model and a low model.

Safety shoes for painters S3 with the additional SRC standard are often equipped with high and reinforced uppers to hold the ankle in place. They have protective toes that have a resistance of 200 joules. They also have anti-perforation, anti-slip soles that have an impressive resistance to hydrocarbons. Other models have metal in their compositions and others are non-magnetic.
