Portwest workwear: a range of choices for maximum satisfaction

The basic standard of Portwest work clothing and PPE
PPE clothing is divided into 3 categories. Category 1 is for simple protections, Category 2 is for intermediate and non-fatal hazards, and Category 3 is for complex designs and covers fatal hazards. In the case of work clothes, the single basic standard that governs their manufacture is NF EN 340, which applies to tops and bottoms as well as to all other kinds of protective clothing. . It encompasses the following requirements:

- Adaptation to the measurements of each employee

Portwest protective clothing designed according to current standards
You cannot call any outfit you wear in the workplace protective workwear. An outfit considered as PPE is regulated and follows the standards mentioned above. If the EN 340 standard serves as a design basis, there are also what are called additional standards that allow designers to meet the more specific needs of each profession: protection against risks chemicals, bad weather, fire...
Each piece of clothing signed Portwest must therefore necessarily follow these regulations in force before obtaining an authorization. While category 1 PPE workwear only requires self-certification from the manufacturer, categories 2 and 3 must undergo a conformity examination by a notified body. Category 3 PPE must also undergo a quality assurance procedure before being placed on the market.
