Technical characteristics of work trousers: patterns and shapes

Generally classified as PPE or personal protective equipment, work trousers are professional clothing intended to be worn by a person who needs to be protected. as part of his job, in accordance with Article R. 233-83-3 of the Labor Code. In particular, he protects him from any risks likely to threaten his health and safety. Work trousers are available in different shapes and patterns, which can make all the difference in terms of safety.

The different shapes of work trousers

Work trousers differ from classic trousers by their resistance to certain constraints linked to the profession of the wearer. It is generally categorized into a few groups which allow it to be identified and classify it according to its usefulness.

Work jeans

The jeans are pants originally dedicated to mining. Currently, it is still very popular on quarries, because it is both robust and of good quality, providing the wearer with the comfort they need when working. Its design has hardly changed despite time and trends.

Thus, this type of work-trousers work has the same shape, namely a fitted cut with two side pockets and two other pockets at the back. However, it has still undergone some improvements to adapt to certain requirements and has in particular additional pockets for practicality.

Classic professional trousers

Most trades requiring the wearing of PPE are concerned here: mason, plumber, mechanic, agent maintenance... The models falling into this category often have practical and essential work accessories.

We then find work trousers with a classic design or embellished with several pockets. You can easily carry with you the equipment and tools you need with this type of pants: pocket for the phone, ruler pocket, pencil pocket, etc. Others are equipped with reinforcements and knee pads. Certain strategic areas of the body require maximum protection to avoid any risk.

The materials of manufacture may also differ depending on the model, but in general the textile is flexible or rigid due to the thickness. The jumpsuit and overalls

The work pants are also available as coveralls or overalls. According to the requirements in terms of comfort and practicality of its user, the latter can choose this type of pants offering more or less the same levels security provided by the classic professional trousers.

The suit has the advantage of having a top that protects the upper part of the body (bust, arms and forearms). The material of manufacture is the same, whether for the top or for the bottom. As for the jumpsuit, only one area of ​​the upper body is protected, namely the bust and abdomen. Although it is less secure compared to the suit, it is still a protection minimizing the risks.

The patterns on work trousers

For example, the pants for cleaners and surface technicians have fluorescent strips that light up when approaching a light source such as car headlights. These are so-called " high visibility " clothing. The color of the fluorescence can be yellow or steel gray, depending on the model.

Alternatively, patterns on work pants can relate to color codes. They are generally used to distinguish the different workers on a construction site. For example, during large-scale construction work, it is important to differentiate the site manager from the workers, or even the labourers.
