Publication of customer reviews

The Decree on the information obligations relating to online consumer reviews aims to promote transparency by strengthening the information given to consumers on the control of reviews, the deadlines for publication and retention of reviews, the date of publication and the date of the consumer experience of each review.

The objective is to reassure the consumer about the reliability of online reviews. This is why at Oxwork, we have decided to partner in this process with the company Verified Reviews to enhance our transparency on the reviews published on our site. You will find below additional information on the management of customer reviews on our site. You can also find all the information in the conditions of use of Avis Vérifiés at this address: Conditions of use.

1. Review control

The customer reviews published by Oxwork are all verified and validated customer reviews. Each customer placing an order on our site will receive an email from Avis Vérifiés asking them to give their opinion on the site but also on the products ordered.

  • The rules for collecting and moderating and publishing reviews are displayed.
  • There is no selection made in the consumers who can leave a review, nor in the published reviews.
  • Reviews correspond to consumer experiences and identified authors.
  • The consumer can report a review that seems suspicious by sending an email to [email protected].
  • Reviews are presented by default from newest to oldest.

Before publication, we carry out an automated check of reviews when they are collected to verify the authenticity of the consumer experience and to detect prohibited content (see list of prohibited content in the next paragraph).

We can also check reviews after publication at the request of the online store, a consumer or any other person reporting a review that seems suspicious to them. We then operate a human moderation of the reviews by internal moderators, and verify their compliance with the conditions of use, the legislation in force and good morals.

In this context, we may, if necessary, contact the author of the disputed review.

In this way, we can guarantee that only authentic customer reviews are publicly visible while filtering out prohibited content.

2. Reasons for refusing a review

Evaluation comments may not contain statements:

  • criminally reprehensible, incitement to commit an offense or which cause an offense
  • illicit
  • threatening, harassing, abusive, malicious, aggressive, hurtful, profane, indecent, false, untruthful, defamatory, deceptive, racist, discriminatory, violent, offensive, obscene, sexist or pornographic
  • which violate or infringe the rights of third parties (including any intellectual property rights, e.g. copyrights or trademark rights) and/or otherwise illegal
  • technically harmful, for example containing malicious code
  • which contain confidential information and/or which violate or infringe the privacy of third parties, in particular if the textual content includes a credit card number, social security number, bank account number or any other information likely to lead identity theft
  • which deceive others as to your identity (in particular by usurping the identity of others)
  • relating to a consumer experience dating back more than six months when the evaluation was submitted
  • advertise other websites, products or services (including providing phone numbers, email addresses or other links)
  • that have no direct relation to the products or services evaluated (for example, a comment relating to the customer's experience with the seller)
  • which do not reflect the personal experience of the customer with regard to the products or services evaluated
  • that could influence a legal proceeding of which you are aware
  • containing random characters or sequences of meaningless words or if the textual content is badly written to the point of being unintelligible
  • whose attributes include concrete elements of conflicts of interest
  • with a call for legal action
  • which the review manager believes could give rise to civil or criminal liability

Failing this, and for the reasons listed above, we may reject, delete or unpublish the review.

3. The rating system

The rating scale ranges from five stars (= “very good”) to one star (= “bad”). For each review (site or product), we calculate the average score (arithmetic middle) from the individual rating.

Here is an example of the calculation of the average score from five reviews:

The total rating of a product results from the simple average of the average rating of all the reviews received for the product since its creation. This could give us for example the following calculation: (4.5 + 3 + 2.5 + 4) / 4 = 14 / 4 = 3.5
The overall rating of the product therefore corresponds to 3.5.
