Before putting coveralls in the washing machine, turn them inside out to preserve their color. Wash it in very hot water and with a long wash cycle. After washing, dry it immediately at the highest temperature and with the longest cycle. Then examine it to see if it has shrunk the way you want it to. If not yet, repeat the method.

Another method is not to use the dryer, but rather an iron. After washing in hot water, take out the coveralls and lay them on an ironing board. In contact with heat, the polyester can be damaged, in order to avoid this, cover the overalls with an ironing cloth. Then return to a medium temperature. How to shrink cotton coveralls?

Cotton is easy to shrink, you can do it without a washing machine. Boil some water. Then put the coveralls in. If you want to shrink it half a size, wait 5 minutes, if more, you need several minutes. Then wring it out and let it air dry. Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot water! Use pliers to grab your workwear.

If you wish, you can also use a washing machine and dryer. In this case, wash it in hot water, but not too much. It is the mechanical action that shrinks the cotton fabric. Pour a cup of vinegar in it to prevent the garment from getting too washed out.

How to shrink a wool overall?

You can shrink the wool overalls by machine or by hand. For machine washing, it is advisable to put a short and gentle cycle and a high temperature. The fibers catch on each other through heat and movement. You have to stop the cycle and check from time to time, because the wool shrinks very quickly.

After the cycle is complete, check to see if you got the size you want. Otherwise, you can shrink it further in the tumble dryer on a short cycle and low heat. Remember to stop the machine regularly to prevent the coveralls from shrinking too much.

For the hand method, take a basin or fill your bathtub with lukewarm water, add a small amount of detergent and mix gently. Then immerse the overalls in it and let it run for 5 to 10 minutes. To dry it, lay it flat on a table. Then take a towel and dab it.

To reshape the piece, you can press your fingers inward on the areas you are targeting or use a hair dryer.

Knowing the appropriate clothing size for your body type is essential to avoid having to shrink them. The first step is to take your measurements. To obtain reliable measurements, you must have a measuring tape. If you don't have one, take a string and then transfer to a standard meter. When you take measurements, do not press it against the body and make sure it is not twisted. Take a model a few centimeters wider than your measurements to be comfortable in your movements.
